Drawing is definitely a practise based skill.
As long as you can deal with sketching for a while,you will quikly pick it up and never stop getting better.
Tracing is one good starting point,as is copying.
Some people frown on it and insist that life drawing is the only way to start and it is incredibly useful but tracing and copying are valid and rewarding starting points too.
