Holbein Artist Watercolour Half Pan – Payne's Grey 621

Payne’s Grey is a useful alternative to reaching for black whenever you need to create depth or darker values. Its blue-grey character works particularly well for atmospheric shadows, cloudy skies, distant hills, water and architectural details.

The three-pigment blend gives this colour a distinctive character and makes it useful for mixing a range of muted darks. Use it in diluted washes for softer grey tones or in stronger concentrations for deeper passages. The compact half pan can be reactivated with water and carried in a compatible palette, making it practical for both studio work and plein air painting.
